How often do you find expired food hiding in the back of your fridge? That container of yogurt you forgot about. The chicken breast you planned to cook last week. It happens to everyone. FreshKeep is an expiry date tracker app built to solve this one problem: knowing what to eat before it goes bad.
Why Most People Give Up on Food Tracking
The idea of tracking food expiry dates is not new. Plenty of people have tried spreadsheets, sticky notes, or other apps. Most solutions fail for the same reason. They take too long to use.
Barcode scanning sounds convenient in theory. In practice, many products don’t scan properly. Manual entry in most food expiry tracker apps requires too many fields. After a few days, the app gets abandoned.
FreshKeep Focuses on Speed
FreshKeep takes a different approach. Adding a food item takes about 3 taps and 5 seconds. Here is how it works:
- Type a food name. Auto-complete suggests from 200+ built-in items.
- Pick an expiry date with quick buttons: +3d, +7d, +14d, or +30d.
- Choose storage: Fridge, Freezer, or Pantry. Tap save.

When you select “Milk,” the app auto-fills 7 days for the expiration date and sets storage to Fridge. The built-in food database handles common defaults so you don’t have to think about them.
There is also a continuous registration mode. After saving one item, the form resets immediately for the next. Unloading a full grocery bag takes under a minute.
Color-Coded Expiry Dates at a Glance
The home screen shows all your food items sorted by urgency. A traffic-light color system makes it easy to spot what needs attention.
- Green: plenty of time left
- Yellow: 4 to 7 days remaining
- Orange: 2 to 3 days remaining
- Red: expiring today, tomorrow, or already expired

You can filter by storage location using the Fridge, Freezer, and Pantry tabs. This turns the app into a quick pantry tracker and fridge manager rolled into one. A glance at the red items tells you what to cook today.
Smart Expiry Date Reminders
If you don’t check the app daily, set up push notifications. FreshKeep sends expiry date reminders at the timing you choose. Options include the day of expiration, 1 day before, 3 days before, or a custom number of days.

Notifications are local. They work without internet. No server is involved.
Swipe to Record What Happened
When you finish a food item, swipe right to mark it as consumed. If you had to throw it away, swipe left to mark it as discarded. Two gestures. No menus to dig through.
Monthly Reports That Show Your Savings
The statistics screen turns your swipe data into a monthly report. You will see your savings rate, how many items you consumed vs. discarded, and which food categories have the highest waste.

If you keep discarding vegetables, the app suggests buying smaller portions. Comparing this month to last month helps you build better habits over time. Reducing food waste and saving money go hand in hand.
Fully Offline, No Account Required
FreshKeep works 100% offline. No internet connection needed. No account creation. No login. All your data stays on your device. Your food inventory is nobody’s business but yours.
