Reading Timer records time and pages for each book. Choose a book, confirm your starting page and start the timer. When you finish reading, enter the ending page to save the session. Your library and statistics show those saved records, and CSV export lets you keep a separate copy for a spreadsheet.
Save your first reading session
- Use Add Book to enter the title, author, total pages and current page. You can also scan an ISBN barcode or enter an ISBN to look up book details. Check the edition and page count; enter the details yourself if the lookup finds nothing suitable.
- Select the book on the timer screen and tap Start Reading. Confirm the starting page to begin timing.
- Use PAUSE when you take a break and RESUME when you return. Paused time is excluded from the reading duration.
- Tap FINISH and confirm the ending page. The timer pauses while you choose that page. Cancelling the selection resumes a session that was running.
- Check the saved session and the book's updated current page. Open All Sessions to correct time, pages or reading notes, or delete an incorrect session.

Understand pages and reading speed
Pages read means ending page minus starting page. Starting at page 10 and finishing at page 30 records 20 pages. Using the same number for both records zero pages in a timed session. The app does not detect page turns: check the position you reached and enter it yourself.
| Value | Example and meaning |
|---|---|
| Reading duration | 20 active minutes, excluding pauses |
| Pages read | 30 − 10 = 20 pages |
| Reading speed | 20 pages ÷ 20 minutes = 1 page/min |
| Time per page | At 1 page/min, 1 minute/page |
Overall average speed uses total pages divided by total reading time, rather than a simple average of session speeds. Estimated remaining reading time uses your recorded average and can change with a different book or reading pace. These figures describe your entries; they do not measure comprehension or concentration.
Use your library and statistics
The book list shows the current page, progress and completion status. Recording the final page marks a book completed. You can register an unread book, but there is no separate planned-reading goal list. Use a book memo for notes about the book and session reading notes for a particular day's reading.

Overall and per-book statistics, the calendar and heatmap show time, pages and activity dates. If you read without running the timer, use Manual Entry to enter a book, date, duration and starting/ending pages. Manual records contribute to personal statistics but are excluded from the leaderboard.

Choose a reading goal
In Settings, choose a Reading Goal based on time or pages for a day, week, month or year. Weekly goals follow the calendar week from Monday through Sunday. For example, 30 minutes per day is a time goal. A target such as three completed books per month is not a supported goal metric.
Goal notifications apply to daily time goals, rather than page goals or weekly, monthly and yearly goals. Delivery depends on notification permission and device settings. Reaching the goal does not automatically finish the timer: finish and save your session when you stop reading.
This is an elapsed-time reading timer. It does not alternate automatic Pomodoro work/rest intervals or block notifications from other apps.
Keep a separate copy of your records
Books and sessions are stored in the app on your device. If a saved active-session state exists, reopening the app can offer a previous-session recovery prompt. This is not cross-device synchronization or a guarantee of recovery after every forced closure. Pause before taking a break if you want that time excluded.
Settings → Export CSV creates a ZIP containing books.csv and sessions.csv. It can include book details and memos, session times, pages and reading notes. Choose a destination in the share sheet and confirm that the file was saved. Opening the share sheet alone does not establish that you kept a copy. CSV is for viewing records in a spreadsheet; it cannot be imported to restore the app.
Download and support
Reading Timer is available on Google Play and the App Store and contains ads. Optional Reading Timer Pro is a one-month auto-renewable subscription that removes ads while active. Check pricing and purchase terms on the purchase screen. Manage cancellation through your store account and use the app's purchase-restore menu when needed.
Use this page's download buttons to install the app. If a record or notification looks wrong, contact support with your app version and what happened. See the privacy policy for data handling information.
