The reading timer app v1.4 update introduces a weekly ranking feature. You can now compare your reading activity with other readers. This post covers everything about the new ranking system.
What Is the Weekly Ranking Feature?
Reading alone can make it hard to stay motivated. Have you ever wondered, “Am I reading more or less than others?”
The weekly ranking feature was built for this. The reading timer app collects weekly reading data from users and displays rankings. No sign-up is needed. Just set a nickname and you’re in.
3 Ranking Categories in the Reading Timer App
Rankings are based on three criteria.
- Reading Time: Total hours read during the week
- Pages Read: Total pages read during the week
- Reading Speed: Pages read per minute
Each category shows a TOP 10 leaderboard. Positions 1 through 3 are highlighted with medal icons. Your own rank is always visible at the bottom of the screen.

How to Join the Rankings
Joining is simple.
- Open the ranking tab in the reading timer app.
- Enter a nickname (2–10 characters).
- Tap the join button.
After that, your reading data syncs automatically. Manually added records are excluded for fairness. Only sessions tracked with the timer count toward rankings.
Why Rankings Help Build a Reading Habit
Staying consistent with reading requires motivation. Research shows that social comparison is effective for behavior change.
The ranking feature adds a light competitive element. It’s not intense pressure. It’s a gentle nudge: “Maybe I’ll read a bit more this week.” Seeing how much others read naturally creates motivation.
Other Updates in v1.4
This update includes a few more changes beyond rankings.
- Manual reading log: Record sessions even when you didn’t use the timer.
- Improved onboarding: The first-time experience is now smoother.
- Goal achievement notifications: Get notified when you hit your daily reading goal.
- Completion celebration: Share your book completion milestones with friends.
